Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Community Engagement Manager located in Richmond, California through April 13, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
•Responsible for leading the refinery’s strategic planning and execution of its social investment programs and ensuring alignment with Corporate/refinery business objectives.
•The ideal candidate will have the proven ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders to help increase the community’s favorability of the refinery through strategic communications and partnerships related to our SI spend.
•Collaborates with the external affairs team in the development of strategic communications related to partnerships to feature contributions in the refinery’s advertising and social media efforts.
•Lead efforts around local content, local hire and economic development to help position the refinery as an economic engine to the City and the community.
•Minimum of 5 years of relevant public, community or government affairs experience
•Stakeholder Engagement – Ability to engage and support internal/external groups. Knowledge of oil and gas business a plus. Ability to represent company plans and positions to external stakeholders, build support for planned business activity.
•Communications – Ability to contribute in multi-disciplinary groups and work collaboratively, fostering cooperation and teamwork. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English, including written corporate communications. Experience in crisis communications, public speaking and communication planning.
•Project Management – Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, managing, and successfully delivering successful outcomes. Have a sense of urgency and the ability to manage priorities and effectively allocate time to large number of projects.
•Social Investment – Experience in executing strategic social investment plans, building constructive relationships with community partners and maximizing Chevron’s ability to support business objectives and community needs. Serve as convener and facilitator to advance positive change in the community.
•Position is on call 24/7; some evening and weekend work is required. This position interacts with all levels of the organization including external stakeholders and is responsible for ensuring a positive image for Chevron in the community.
•The successful candidate should have the ability to work in a dynamic, stressful, and unpredictable environment driven by highly complex and sensitive community and political issues.
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.

At the February 20, 2018 Richmond City Council Meeting, the CITY COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED TO EXPAND THE INDUSTRIAL SAFETY ORDINANCE TO INCLUDE SIMS AND SIMILAR BUSINESSES “TO INCLUDE INDIVIDUAL FACILITIES THAT HANDLE, PROCESS OR STORE HAZARDOUS OR TOXIC MATERIALS.”
The City will also be creating an inventory of all CUP’s in the City of Richmond.

The planning of the celebration is going well. We are finalizing the agenda and have confirmed the speakers. As a reminder, Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton will be our keynote speaker. This year, we will have a preconference activity in the courtyard for those of you who would like a low impact physical activity. Qigong will be offered from 9:40am to 10:00am. Qigong is a Chinese system of physical exercises and breathing control related to tai chi. By popular demand, we will bring back the table visits to exchange information and gain knowledge on the services/resources available from the various local organizations that will be in attendance.

Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-2019 ECIA Grant Program Applications are Available!
In 2014, the Richmond City Council approved the Chevron Environmental and Community Investment Agreement (ECIA), which invests $90 million dollars into the Richmond community over 10-years. $6 million of those dollars have been set aside for a competitive grant program, designed for non-profits and governmental agencies who serve Richmond in the areas of community, youth, and youth sports. The ECIA has grant awards that range from $2,500, up to $50,000.
Important changes have been made to the grant guidelines, especially the eligibility criteria, so please read them carefully. Of special note, organizations awarded grants of more than $10,000 in FY 17-18 are ineligible to apply in FY 18-19.
